The Bridge - Acquaintance

There are more and more ways for people to connect with each other, but less and less reasons to connect. Connecting has been exceedingly difficult since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The term “social distancing” was widely used, but the term “physical distancing” better captured the essence of this isolation. I encourage my viewers to maintain connections while distancing, both with each other and with themselves. Constructing bridges performs an effective connection.

My works focuses on geometry and structure, using abstracted references to bridges and architecture to create wearable connection. I empower the wearer to explore their sense of connection to the world.

Silver is the main material in my work, because of its reflective nature and its brightness. By contrasting overall structure with detailed textures, I generate a balance between polish and tension. I always contemplate the movement of my jewelry and how it interacts with the body. I am fascinated by the manner in which wearer and jewelry interact to create a new kind of connection.
